About Me

Always be a first-rate version of yourself, instead of a second-rate version of somebody else.” –Judy Garland

Welcome (or welcome back) to the world of therapy. It can be a long process, deciding when it’s the right time for therapy and then finding the right therapist. And you haven’t even gotten to the really hard work yet. I’m glad you’ve found me, and I hope we can work together.

I’m a seasoned clinician who works regularly with everyday problems like depression, anxiety, self esteem, and relationship issues, as well as the unique aspects associated with sexual identity and serious illness. I see virtually every aspect of our lives – good, bad, or in between – as an opportunity for personal growth. I identify as gay but welcome and have worked with straight and LGBTQ clients equally.

I am a licensed independent clinical social worker with both a Masters and a Doctoral degree in Social Work. My approach is grounded in connecting to clients on a human level, working together to find solutions to life’s problems, and finding humor even in the darkest corners of our closets. I am an eclecticist, drawing from psychodynamic, CBT and systems theories, but always maintaining a person-centered focus in exploring the ways in which our inner workings and interpersonal exchanges create both roadblocks and opportunities.

I believe in the search for self insight, but also developing practical tools for change. I believe in the value of a good laugh, but also keeping ourselves honest. I believe in the importance of hope and integrity, but also managing expectations and resentments so that we can flourish.

I’m happy to talk more about my practice and availability, just email or call me.
